About Us
Medical Aid & Textile Recycling for Africa Cause (MATRAC)
Empowering Communities, Enhancing Lives!
Medical Aid & Textile Recycling for Africa Cause (MATRAC) is a UK-based non-profit organization focused on improving healthcare access and promoting environmental sustainability through innovative, community-led solutions.
Founded with a vision to support vulnerable communities in Africa, we also advocate for the health rights and social inclusion of African-descent and Black populations in the UK—particularly those affected by long-term health conditions, HIV, disability, displacement, and socio-economic inequality.
We engage with and serve a wide range of marginalized groups, including migrant communities, refugees, asylum seekers, Black LGBTQ+ individuals, and those living with health comorbidities. Our work is people-centered, rights-based, and tailored to the lived realities of those we support.
Bridging Health & Sustainability for a Brighter Future
accountability, ethical leadership, and measurable outcomes.
MATRAC's Objectives
(1) The charity’s objects (“Objects”) are specifically restricted to the following:
(a) The objects for which the foundation is established are:
1. The relief and assistance of older people in residential care homes and associated services in the United Kingdom by the provision of volunteers to increase social contact and well-being of those residents, and reduce their social isolation, and by the provision, support, and training of such volunteers.
2. To relieve poverty, distress and suffering in any part of the world (including disease, sickness or mental or physical disability) and whether arising from any public calamity or otherwise.
3. Create training, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities—especially for women, youth, and marginalized groups—through our recycling and community development initiatives.
4. Advocate for equal access to health services and information for Black, African-descent, migrant, and LGBTQ+ communities in the UK facing systemic healthcare inequalities.
5. Engage directly with local leaders and residents in Africa and the UK to design, implement, and monitor projects that are culturally relevant, impactful, and sustainable.
